WRMS - Controls BAS Upgrade
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project involved the prime consulting /engineering for the facility wide control system upgrade. The W. Ross MacDonald School is a specialty resident facility which incorporates 14 buildings of occupied space/service areas.
The BAS upgrade involved a complete replacement of the HVAC controls (approx. 15 AHU’s, and multiple RTU’s, MUA’s, EF, etc…) to a BTL listed BACnet open protocol system. The project incorporated all major design phases from schematic design through to construction review. In addition, many mechanical revisions had been completed from multi-zone AHU fan motor-VFD upgrades to the integration of the existing boiler system.
MAT4Site acting as the prime consultant effectively manage electrical, environmental and commissioning consultants to deliver the controls upgrade within an aggressive deadline and on budget.
Challenges overcome for this project included:
• Value engineering was conducted in order to reduce total project budget
• Ensuring minimal disruption to the facility’s functions throughout the construction period
• Integrating the new and old systems to function harmoniously
Services
Project services included feasibility planning, conceptual design, detailed engineering & design, construction review, contract administration, and coordination with 3rd party commissioning.
